Dolby Vision 2: What It Brings to Your TV Experience and Which Models Support It

Dolby has introduced Dolby Vision 2, the successor to the original Dolby Vision HDR format. The new version promises to deliver significant upgrades in picture quality, along with addressing some key complaints. One of the main improvements is the introduction of ‘content intelligence’, which optimizes viewing based on AI analysis of the content and your environment. The system also incorporates a ‘precision black’ feature, improving clarity in dark scenes, and a ‘Light Sense’ function, which adjusts the picture quality depending on the ambient light. Additionally, Dolby Vision 2 includes ‘Authentic Motion’, which enhances motion in video, especially for cinematic scenes. The new technology also offers a more powerful image engine, bi-directional tone-mapping for better brightness and contrast, and tailored modes for sports and gaming. Hisense will be among the first TV brands to support this new tech, with other brands expected to follow, especially at CES in January. Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two tiers: Dolby Vision 2 Max for premium TVs and Dolby Vision 2 for more mainstream models.
