Nissan unveils 2026 Leaf with over 300 miles range, Tesla charging compatibility, and updated design

Nissan has revealed the 2026 Leaf, marking a major upgrade from previous generations. This new model transforms the Leaf from a compact hatchback into a sleek crossover SUV with significantly improved aerodynamics and an estimated driving range between 259 and 303 miles, a substantial increase from the current max of 212 miles. A standout feature is the inclusion of dual charge ports: a CCS-compatible port and a Tesla NACS port, allowing Leaf owners to access Tesla’s Supercharger network for fast charging convenience. The 2026 Leaf also integrates Google’s native Android software, offering enhanced infotainment with apps like Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play. Nissan introduces Plug and Charge technology, simplifying the charging process by eliminating the need for apps or payment submissions during fast charging. Battery improvements include a 75kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion pack, thermal management systems, and a heat pump to optimize performance in extreme weather. The new Leaf offers several trims, from the base S to the premium Platinum Plus, featuring upgrades like bigger wheels and Bose audio. Safety features are enhanced with Nissan’s Secondary Collision Mitigation Braking. The 2026 Leaf aims to revive Nissan’s EV presence with modern technology, style, and practical features suitable for current market demands. It is expected to reach US dealerships in fall 2025.
