Agility Robotics Goes Public with Focus on Warehouse Automation

Agility Robotics, a Shenzhen-based startup specializing in bipedal humanoid robots for industrial applications, is set to go public through a SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, valuing the company at $2.5 billion. CEO Peggy Johnson emphasized the company’s focus on warehouse and factory automation, highlighting its $620 million capital raise as the largest in humanoid robotics history. While competitors like Figure AI and Apptronik have achieved massive valuations, Agility’s approach prioritizes safety certifications and real-world data collection over speculative hype. The company’s Digit robot, designed for heavy-duty tasks in structured environments, features reverse-bend knees and task-specific hands optimized for logistics. Johnson declined to speculate on home robotics adoption, citing the complexity of domestic environments compared to industrial settings. Agility’s success hinges on its proprietary physical AI and safety standards, distinguishing it from rivals that often showcase lab demos rather than certified industrial solutions. The merger aims to expand production capacity and fulfill $300 million in booked contracts with major clients like Amazon and Toyota.
