Three network experiences issues with voice calls, but data services remain unaffected
Three, a major UK mobile operator, confirmed that some of its users were unable to make phone calls due to a problem affecting its voice services. This issue emerged on Wednesday morning, with over 9,000 reports on DownDetector at around 09:30 BST. However, the operator reassured users that data services, including 4G and 5G, were still functioning as expected. The company did not specify how many of its 11 million customers were affected by the disruption. The issue also impacted other mobile operators that rely on Three’s network, such as ID Mobile and Smarty. These companies acknowledged the problem and stated that their technical teams were working to restore full service. Some users expressed frustration on social media, mentioning issues with missed calls from critical services such as hospitals or car breakdown companies. This is not the first time Three has faced service disruptions; in January, the operator investigated problems with users being unable to call emergency services (999). Despite this latest issue, Three has affirmed that its data services continue to operate normally.
