Trump Administration Expands Use of Palantir to Integrate Federal Data Systems

In March 2025, President Trump signed an executive order mandating greater data sharing between federal agencies. While the initiative received little public attention afterward, internal actions reveal that the government is steadily progressing toward building a unified data infrastructure with Palantir Technologies as a key partner. Palantir has received over $113 million in federal contracts since Trump’s return to office, not counting a new $795 million contract from the Department of Defense. The administration is deploying Palantir’s data integration platform, Foundry, across multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services. Discussions are also underway with the Social Security Administration and the IRS. Foundry allows the aggregation and analysis of disparate data sources, enabling the potential creation of comprehensive citizen profiles using sensitive information such as bank account numbers, medical records, and student loan details. The move has raised concerns about surveillance and the centralization of personal data under one system, though the administration has not publicly addressed the long-term implications. Experts warn that such data unification could greatly expand executive surveillance powers.
