Waymo Expands Robotaxi Service to All Dallas Residents

Waymo, the autonomous car maker owned by Alphabet, has officially removed the waitlist for its robotaxi service in Dallas, making it accessible to all residents and visitors. This marks a significant step in the company’s plan to scale self-driving technology across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Now, anyone can download the Waymo app and hail a robotaxi in Dallas immediately. However, rides to Dallas Love Field Airport are still unavailable as the company continues testing its vehicles at the airport, with plans to serve riders there ‘soon.’ Waymo has been operating in Dallas since 2025, initially partnering with Avis Budget Group to manage its fleet of all-electric autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles. The service was launched to the public in February 2026 but faced early challenges, including a temporary pause in service due to issues with heavy rain and flooded roads. While operations have resumed, Waymo may adjust or suspend services based on severe weather conditions. Riders can check service status via the Waymo app. This expansion underscores Waymo’s commitment to advancing self-driving technology while addressing real-world challenges like weather disruptions.
