SpaceX’s Dragon capsule has returned to Earth with a remarkable 6,700 pounds of advanced technology and scientific experiments from its mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Among the most notable cargo is the MISSE-20 experiment, which tested materials’ durability in space for future spacecraft, including radiation shields and solar coatings. Another key development is the Astrobee-REACCH robotic system, which demonstrated tentacle-like robots capable of performing microgravity tasks, such as satellite servicing and debris management. Additionally, the OPTICA project made progress in space imaging by compressing and transmitting hyperspectral images in real-time, a technology with vast potential applications on Earth in areas like agriculture and disaster management. The Dragon capsule also brought educational materials back to Earth, including STEM-themed children’s books that were read by astronauts aboard the ISS.
