Anker Recalls Over 1.1 Million PowerCore 10000 Chargers Due to Fire Risk

Anker has issued a recall of its PowerCore 10000 power banks, model A1263, due to safety concerns. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that more than 1.1 million units sold in the U.S. are affected. The recall follows 19 incidents of the device catching fire or exploding. Customers who bought the power banks between June 2016 and December 2022 are advised to stop using them immediately. To receive a replacement, users must provide a photo showing the model and serial number, the word ‘recalled’ written on the device, and proof of proper disposal, although a purchase receipt is optional. Anker also emphasized safe disposal through hazardous waste centers rather than standard trash or recycling services. In addition to this model, Anker has recalled three other battery products but clarified that other popular models remain unaffected. Experts warn that lithium-ion batteries, common in portable chargers, can be hazardous if damaged or improperly stored. Airlines have also begun tightening rules on such devices due to safety concerns. Anker urges affected customers to visit their recall webpage or contact their support team for further instructions.
