YouTube Music Tests AI Hosts for Interactive Listening Experience
YouTube is introducing a new feature in its YouTube Music app, allowing users to experience AI-generated hosts that occasionally interrupt music playlists with stories, trivia, and commentary. This feature, part of YouTube Labs, aims to provide a richer listening experience similar to having a radio host. Known as ‘Beyond the Beat,’ the AI hosts will offer commentary based on the music you’re listening to, including fun facts and relevant insights about the songs. The AI interruptions are designed to be short and less intrusive than podcasts, allowing users to enjoy a seamless mix of music and information. The feature is currently being tested with a limited group of U.S. users, and YouTube offers an option to ‘snooze’ the interruptions for up to 24 hours. While this experiment is still in its early stages, YouTube plans to roll out more AI features in the future to gather user feedback. The new initiative is part of YouTube’s broader push to integrate AI across its platforms, including upcoming AI video tools.
