YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Search Results Carousel for Premium Users

Google is introducing a new AI-powered search feature to YouTube, similar to the AI Overviews already seen in its search engine. This feature, available to YouTube Premium members in the U.S., will display an AI-generated summary of search results, along with a carousel of relevant video thumbnails. The top of the carousel will showcase a large video clip, and users can tap it to view the full video. This AI feature is being rolled out on both iOS and Android devices and is currently available in English. The testing period for this feature will last until July 30th, and only a small group of Premium members will have access to it for now. In addition, YouTube is expanding its conversational AI tool, which allows users to ask questions about specific videos. This feature, introduced in 2023, will soon be available to some non-Premium users in the U.S. YouTube’s move signals a broader push by the company to integrate AI into its platform, making it more interactive and user-friendly, especially for users seeking information on specific topics such as travel, shopping, or activities.
