Zanzibar and TTCL strengthen partnership to improve communications across the Isles

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has reaffirmed its commitment to continue working closely with the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) in strengthening communication services throughout the Isles. The announcement was made by President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi during a meeting held on March 23, 2025, at State House Zanzibar. The meeting was attended by David Nchimbi, Chairman of the TTCL Board of Directors, who led a delegation that included the corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, CPA Moremi Marwa, and other senior officials.

President Mwinyi praised TTCL’s efforts in expanding its communication network and digital services, which play a vital role in Zanzibar’s growing economy and public service delivery. He also reinforced the importance of collaboration between the government and TTCL in ensuring reliable connectivity that supports tourism, education, and governance sectors within Zanzibar.

In his remarks, Mr. Nchimbi expressed appreciation for the continued trust and cooperation shown by the Revolutionary Government. He noted that TTCL remains committed to improving and expanding both mobile and broadband services to reach more people across the islands. The visit served as a platform to discuss future investments in infrastructure, such as expanding fibre-optic coverage, and increasing public access to high-speed internet through the FAIBA service. The strong collaboration between the two institutions reflects a shared vision of a digitally connected Zanzibar that contributes to Tanzania’s wider communication goals.
