Adidas Confirms Customer Contact Information Breach Through Third-Party Vendor

Adidas has confirmed a cyber attack that resulted in the theft of certain customer data, primarily contact details of individuals who interacted with its help desk. According to the company, no passwords, credit card information, or other sensitive payment data were compromised. The breach occurred via a third-party customer service provider, and Adidas responded by promptly containing the incident and launching an investigation with cybersecurity experts.

The sportswear company is currently notifying affected individuals and coordinating with legal and data protection authorities in line with relevant laws. Although the attack did not disrupt Adidas’ operations, it raises serious concerns about data security and customer privacy.

Consumer advocate Lisa Barber from the group Which? emphasized the importance of Adidas keeping affected customers informed and advised vigilance against fraudulent messages or financial irregularities. This incident comes amid a wider surge in cyber attacks affecting major UK retailers, including Marks & Spencer, Co-op, and Harrods. While the group Scattered Spider is suspected in some of those attacks, there is no current evidence linking them to the Adidas breach. Notably, Adidas has also experienced data breaches in its operations in Turkey and South Korea earlier this month.
