Hyper raises $6.3 million to reduce wait times for 911 calls using AI

Hyper, a new AI-driven emergency response startup, has raised $6.3 million in seed funding to automate non-emergency calls made to 911, aiming to reduce wait times for urgent calls. The company was founded by Ben Sanders, a former AI voice tech entrepreneur, who saw the potential for innovation in the 911 space after learning that many calls to emergency services are non-urgent. Hyper is designed to handle these non-emergency calls, such as noise complaints or minor incidents, freeing up human dispatchers to focus on more critical situations. The system can answer questions, forward calls, and even take non-emergency police reports. If a call seems to have a more urgent tone, Hyper escalates the matter to a human dispatcher. Sanders, who previously worked at the intersection of tech and government, hopes to help reduce the stress on 911 responders, who are often overworked and understaffed. Hyper is already live with several emergency centers and aims to expand its integration across the U.S. The startup is also focusing on providing multilingual support, an important differentiator from competitors. The company intends to use the new capital to scale operations and build new products.
