The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has released a troubling report revealing that AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) increased significantly in 2025, with over 8,000 AI-generated images and videos flagged. These disturbing visuals appeared across both regular online platforms and the dark web, marking a 14% increase from the previous year. The most concerning aspect of this surge is the sophistication of the material, with 65% of the flagged content being full-motion AI videos depicting extreme forms of abuse, categorized as the most offensive. Experts are concerned that AI tools are now more accessible, enabling users to create abusive content with minimal technical skills.
