Apple Delays Smart Display Due to Siri AI Upgrade Setback

Apple has postponed the release of its rumored smart display, which was expected to serve as a home hub with a screen, due to delays in its Siri AI upgrade. The device, anticipated to support Apple Intelligence and run on tvOS, was meant to integrate with native Apple apps such as Calendar, Notes, and Messages. The setback follows Apple’s announcement that its next-generation Siri capabilities require more development time and may not launch with iOS 18 as previously planned.

While Apple faces this delay, competitors like Amazon and Google are advancing their smart home ecosystems. Amazon is enhancing Alexa with AI features and expanding its Echo Show lineup, while Google has started integrating its Gemini AI into Nest speakers, albeit in limited releases. However, neither company has fully rolled out these updates to the public.

This development suggests that Apple is taking a cautious approach, likely to ensure its AI-powered smart assistant is fully functional before launching new hardware. The delay might push the smart display’s release further, as Apple prioritizes refining its AI technology.
