ASUS Unveils $500K RTX 5090 ROG Astral Made with 5kg of Real Gold

ASUS has officially presented a unique and extravagant version of its high-end graphics card, the RTX 5090 ROG Astral Real Gold Edition, at Bilibili World 2025. Unlike typical luxury PC hardware, this GPU takes opulence to another level by incorporating 5 kilograms of pure gold into its construction. The card is estimated to be worth $500,000, based solely on the market value of gold, excluding the actual GPU component cost.

This model follows ASUS’s previous release of the RTX 5090 ROG Astral Dhahab, which featured a gold-plated shroud containing 6.5 grams of real gold and cost around $10,000. The Real Gold Edition dwarfs it in material value and weight, clocking in at 7.2 kilograms, which is approximately 60% the mass of a full gold bar. This release appears to be more of a luxury showcase item rather than a commercially available product.

ASUS has not revealed whether the card will be sold, auctioned, or melted down after the event. Given its impracticality for general consumers, it seems likely that it serves as a marketing statement or collector’s piece rather than a usable product. The card has drawn both admiration and confusion from the tech community.
