Bluesky Launches Attie, an AI Agent That Lets Users Build Personalized Social Feeds

Bluesky, the decentralized social media company behind the AT Protocol, has introduced its latest project: an AI-powered assistant called Attie. The tool enables users to create and customize social media feeds through natural language prompts, removing the need for programming knowledge. Built on the same open-source AT Protocol as Bluesky, Attie is part of the company’s broader mission to promote decentralized, user-controlled digital communication.

Former Bluesky CEO and current chief innovation officer Jay Graber explained that Attie allows users to describe the kinds of posts or topics they want to see, and the AI then generates corresponding feeds automatically. Example queries could include requests to highlight electronic music creators within a user’s network or to surface content from developers working on agent infrastructure. Graber noted that Attie functions as a separate application from Bluesky but could eventually integrate with other apps operating on the same framework.

In its launch blog post, Bluesky emphasized the importance of keeping AI technology aligned with human agency and transparency, warning against the growing trend of opaque algorithms used by major platforms to manipulate user engagement. Attie aims to contrast that by letting users directly shape their online experience and regain control over the social algorithms that influence what they see. Beta sign-ups for Attie are now open, and Bluesky invites the community to experiment and help define what this new AI-enabled, decentralized social experience can become.
