Ceva Unveils MotionEngine Hex for Advanced Motion Tracking in Smart TVs and IoT Devices
Ceva, Inc., a leader in silicon and software IP for smart edge devices, has introduced MotionEngine Hex, a cutting-edge motion control software designed to deliver precise, touch-free interaction with digital displays. Announced on June 24, 2025, MotionEngine Hex combines ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning and inertial measurement unit (IMU) orientation sensing to achieve true 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) tracking. This enables users to control Smart TVs, monitors, gaming systems, and other IoT interfaces with high accuracy using gestures and pointing without physical contact.
The software is optimized for real-time 3D position and orientation tracking, providing a seamless, touchscreen-like experience for users. It supports both host-based and embedded architectures, allowing flexibility for OEMs and developers. Key features include absolute pointing, runtime calibration, drift compensation, tremor suppression, and low power consumption—making it suitable for battery-powered devices.
Built on Ceva’s MotionEngine platform, which has been deployed in over 150 million devices, the new solution is targeted at manufacturers aiming to enhance user experience and differentiate their products. Ceva will demonstrate MotionEngine Hex at the Sensors Converge Conference on June 25-26, 2025 in Santa Clara, California.
