Zhaoxin’s KH-5000 Chiplet CPUs Offer Up to 96 Cores, Enhanced Memory & PCIe Capabilities for Next-Gen Servers
Zhaoxin, a leading Chinese server CPU manufacturer, has unveiled its next-generation KH-5000 chiplet-based CPUs for servers, designed to offer significant performance improvements over their previous KH-4000 series. These new CPUs feature up to 96 cores, supporting high-performance server workloads with enhanced memory and I/O capabilities. The KH-5000 series uses a chiplet architecture, allowing configurations with different core counts, and promises a 30% improvement in IPC (instructions per cycle) over previous generations. Key specifications include up to 384 MB of cache, a base clock of 2.0 GHz with a 3.0 GHz boost, and support for 12-channel DDR5 memory (ECC). Furthermore, the new ZPI 5.0 interconnect allows for dual and quad-socket configurations, potentially delivering up to 384 cores on a single motherboard. The KH-5000 chips will also support 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes, ensuring higher data bandwidth and reduced latencies compared to previous models. Zhaoxin’s upgrades reflect China’s drive to strengthen its domestic server ecosystem, and these new chips are expected to be a crucial part of the country’s technological development. Although Zhaoxin hasn’t specified a release date for the KH-5000 series, it represents a significant leap forward in server performance. Additionally, Zhaoxin has introduced the KX-7000N CPU, featuring a dedicated NPU for improved AI performance, marking further advancements in the Chinese tech industry.
