Michoacán’s Digital Government Initiative Improves Transparency and Efficiency for Workers
The State of Michoacán has launched a new digital government initiative aimed at improving transparency and efficiency for over 72,000 public sector employees. The platform, SEEDigital, spearheaded by the Secretaría de Educación (SEE), enables online processing of administrative tasks, reducing bureaucracy and eliminating corruption risks. With 80% of procedures now conducted online, waiting times have been reduced by up to 85%, making the process quicker and more efficient. Furthermore, the digital transformation has allowed for the eradication of ‘coyotaje,’ a practice where intermediaries previously hindered access to services. Another significant improvement is the shift to digital payments for employees, completely eliminating the handling of checks and reducing the risk of financial misconduct. The digital platform also extends its benefits to the wider community, facilitating easier access to educational services, such as registering for federal and state scholarships. Additionally, parents and guardians can now complete 334,000 pre-enrollments online, as well as apply for certificates and titles without the hassle of paperwork. This modernization aligns with national goals to promote efficient, transparent public administration, and positions Michoacán as a leading example in educational digitalization.
