DJI Mic 3: New Features and Limitations in the Latest Wireless Microphone System
The DJI Mic 3 is the latest wireless microphone system from DJI, offering several improvements over its predecessors. It now supports up to four transmitters (TX) and eight receivers (RX), making it more suitable for multi-microphone setups. One of the key upgrades is the addition of timecode support, which ensures accurate syncing of audio and video. However, the DJI Mic 3 has removed the 3.5mm lavalier mic input, which may be a deal-breaker for some users. The system boasts advanced features like Adaptive Gain Control, two-level noise cancellation, and multiple voice tone presets to improve audio quality in different environments. Additionally, it supports dual-file 32-bit float internal recording and automatic frequency hopping between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for better transmission stability. The DJI Mic 3 can operate up to 400 meters with strong interference resistance, and it has an internal recording capacity to save both original and enhanced audio tracks. The system is compatible with DJI’s own cameras and other devices via a variety of ports, including Bluetooth. Available in two kits (2 TX + 1 RX and 1 TX + 1 RX), the DJI Mic 3 is a powerful tool for filmmakers, though the absence of the lav mic input could be a limitation for some users.
