Garmin Adds New Mountain Biking Features to Edge 1050 Bike Computer

Garmin has released a software update for its Edge 1050 bike computer, bringing a host of new features aimed at enhancing mountain biking experiences. The update introduces five key additions, first seen on the Edge MTB model released earlier in 2025. These include Garmin’s timing gates function, allowing users to track split times across trails and courses for a real-time performance review. Improvements to the ForkSight mode will now show users upcoming trail forks with details on distance, elevation, and the return path. Additionally, two new ride profiles—Enduro and Downhill—have been added. The Enduro profile tracks total ascent and descent from each run, while the Downhill profile automatically laps after each run, ensuring shuttle lifts do not interfere with ride stats. Lastly, the update enhances GPS recording speed to 5Hz, providing greater detail for trail lines. Garmin’s smartwatches also receive new features, including a running economy feature and an evening report that helps with sleep and workout planning. This update makes the Edge 1050 an even more capable tool for serious mountain bikers.
