ESWIN EBC77 RISC-V SBC to Feature Ubuntu Linux Support

Canonical has partnered with ESWIN Computing to bring Ubuntu Linux to the ESWIN EBC77 Series single-board computer. This RISC-V-based device is powered by the ESWIN EIC7700X SoC, featuring a 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and a self-developed neural processing unit (NPU). The NPU, designed to handle 20 TOPS, is expected to have delayed support in the upstream Linux kernel. The EBC77 also supports a range of features including PCIe Gen3, USB 3.2 ports, micro HDMI output, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 802.11ac, and an SD card slot. It’s anticipated that Canonical will focus on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS for this SBC. However, the RISC-V baseline for future Ubuntu versions is set to be RVA23, which would mean that Ubuntu 25.04 and older would work on the EBC77, with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS providing long-term support. Pricing details for the EBC77 remain unclear, as the device has just been announced and is currently unavailable for pre-order on Amazon.
