Zinwa to Revive BlackBerry Phones with Updated Components and Android OS

Zinwa Technologies, a Chinese company, has announced plans to bring back older BlackBerry models, including the BlackBerry Passport and the BlackBerry Classic, with modernized internal components and Android operating system. The company’s first project, the Zinwa Q25, will be a reworked version of the BlackBerry Q20 (also known as the BlackBerry Classic). The Q25 will keep the classic design with the iconic physical keyboard but will feature a more powerful MediaTek Helio99 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Additionally, the phone will include a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The device will run Android 13 and will support all global 4G LTE bands. The Q25 will be available for $400, with an option for a $300 conversion kit for current owners of the BlackBerry Classic. Zinwa also plans to update other models, such as the BlackBerry Passport and the KEYone. The phones will receive regular security updates, but there are no plans for major OS upgrades. The Zinwa Q25 is set to ship in August 2025. This marks an effort to merge nostalgia for BlackBerry’s iconic design with modern smartphone hardware and software.
