Kyle Vogt’s Robotics Startup Secures $150M to Develop Household Robots
The Bot Company, a robotics startup founded by former Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt, has raised an additional $150 million in a funding round led by Greenoaks, according to Reuters. The company, co-founded by Vogt, former Tesla AI lead Paril Jain, and former Cruise software engineer Luke Holoubek, aims to develop household robots. The funding comes less than a year after the startup’s initial $150 million round in May 2024, which was backed by investors like Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, Nabeel Hyatt, Patrick Collison, and John Collison.
Vogt started this new venture just months after stepping down from Cruise, the autonomous vehicle company he founded in 2013 and later sold to General Motors. His resignation followed a high-profile accident involving a Cruise self-driving car, which dragged a pedestrian after a human-driven vehicle initially struck them. While Vogt has not commented on The Bot Company’s recent funding, the investment signals continued interest in consumer robotics.
The company’s focus is reportedly on creating advanced robots capable of handling household tasks, positioning itself within the rapidly growing robotics industry. With significant backing from influential investors, The Bot Company is poised to become a key player in the home automation space.
