This week in tech news, Samsung revealed a bit more about its upcoming trifold phone, which is expected to launch in 2025. The phone, likely to be called the Galaxy G Fold, will feature two hinges to allow the device to open up into a tablet-like screen. While Samsung didn’t reveal the phone at its Galaxy Unpacked event, it confirmed the device is coming soon, with a high price tag expected. Hugging Face also made waves with the announcement of Reachy Mini, an open-source coding robot designed for experimentation with AI. The robot, available for preorder, can be built and programmed by users to exhibit a variety of behaviors, and is expected to ship later this year. In other news, Ikea has ditched its partnership with Sonos and announced a shift toward Matter and Spotify integration for its smart home products. This move introduces more affordable and simplified smart home devices that are compatible with major home assistant systems like Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. OnePlus also made a splash by unveiling five new devices, including the OnePlus Watch 3, Buds 4, and the OnePlus Nord 5, though only two of them will be available in the US. Honor’s Magic V5 foldable phone was also introduced, breaking records for its slim design and high-end specifications. Overall, this week was filled with exciting innovations in the tech and smart home space.
