Gmail Introduces Docked Reply Bar for Android Users

Gmail for Android is rolling out a new docked reply bar, replacing the previous quick reply interface that was launched last year. The quick reply design was intended to allow users to quickly compose messages while still referencing the email they were replying to, but Google decided to remove it due to performance issues in Workspace accounts. This quick reply UI remains available for personal accounts. The new docked reply bar includes options for Reply, Reply All, Forward, and emoji reactions. It appears at the bottom of the screen and stays visible as users scroll through emails. Although this change reduces screen space, the impact on available real estate is minimal. If users have the bottom bar for Google Chat or Meet enabled, the docked bar stacks above these tools, with the bottom navigation disappearing when scrolling. The new feature is still not widely available but is already showing up on some accounts with the Gmail version 2025.05.04.x on Android. The roll-out appears to be gradual as Gmail continues to test and refine the feature.
