Google’s New Doppl App Lets You Virtually Try on Outfits Using AI

Google has introduced an experimental app called Doppl, available on iOS and Android, which allows users to visualize how different outfits will look on them using AI. The app works by asking users to upload a full-body photo, after which they can virtually try on outfits by uploading images of clothing they are interested in, such as those from thrift stores, friends, or even screenshots from social media. Doppl creates a digital version of the user and allows them to see how the outfit looks on their virtual body. The app can also generate AI-powered videos, providing a more dynamic sense of how the clothing would look in real life. Users can save their favorite looks, browse through virtual try-ons, and share their new outfits with others. This app builds on Google’s previous efforts with virtual try-ons in Google Shopping. By launching Doppl as a standalone app, Google hopes to make this feature more accessible and engaging while collecting data to improve future iterations. Although the app is still in its early stages, the company has cautioned that the fit and appearance might not always be perfect. Doppl is currently only available in the U.S., and there are no details on whether it will be expanded to other regions.
