Google Pixel Camera v9.9 Update Removes Social Share and Delays Education Hub

Google has quietly removed the Social Share feature from its Pixel Camera app in the latest update (version 9.9), released following the June 2025 Feature Drop. Previously, this feature allowed users to swipe the photo preview near the shutter button and quickly share pictures via apps like Instagram or messaging platforms. It supported up to three apps in addition to the default Quick Share option. With the new update, this functionality has vanished from the app settings, and users are now required to manually open photos to share them, adding extra steps to what was once a seamless process. It’s currently unclear whether the removal was intentional or a bug, though Google has a history of temporarily breaking the feature in past updates. In addition to this, the expected ‘education hub’ feature—marked by a circular question mark icon meant to guide users—was also absent from version 9.9. While this might be resolved with a future server-side update, its absence further contributes to user disappointment. Overall, the changes have sparked concerns among Pixel users who appreciated the utility of these now-missing features.
