Switching from Outlook to Proton: A Smooth Transition with More Security

After using Microsoft Outlook for years, the author decided to try Proton’s ecosystem, drawn by its encryption and security features. Proton Mail and Calendar are the primary services that caught the author’s attention, offering a simpler interface without the clutter found in Outlook. The process of transferring emails, contacts, and calendar entries from Outlook to Proton was quick and easy with Proton’s ‘Easy Switch’ feature, taking only about 15 minutes. The encryption and zero-knowledge system in Proton Mail appealed to the author, ensuring that even Proton employees can’t access their messages. While the mobile app experience was slightly different compared to Outlook, the overall transition was smooth and met expectations. The author is now happy with the switch and recommends Proton’s security features, despite minor adjustments needed for mobile use. The clean interface and seamless integration with Proton’s other services further reinforced the author’s decision to leave Outlook behind.
