Intel Unveils Panther Lake SoCs and Xe3 Graphics for 2026 Laptops
At the Intel Tech Tour 2025 in Arizona, Intel introduced its upcoming Panther Lake System-on-Chips (SoCs) designed for laptops, set to launch in the first half of 2026. While detailed benchmarks and SKU tables were not provided, Panther Lake is positioned as the successor to Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake, promising enhanced performance. The SoCs will support high-speed memory, with configurations up to LPDDR5-9600 and DDR5-7200, and a maximum memory capacity of 128GB with DDR5-7500, a significant improvement over Lunar Lake’s 32GB limit. Panther Lake will come in three variants: an 8-core model with four P-cores and four LP E-cores, and two 16-core models, one with 12 Xe graphics cores and 12 PCIe lanes, and another with 4 Xe cores and 20 PCIe lanes. All variants feature Intel’s Xe3 graphics architecture, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, WiFi 7, and the NPU Gen5 neural processing unit for AI tasks. The 8-core model supports up to LPDDR5x-6800 or DDR5-6400, while the flagship 16-core model reaches LPDDR5x-9600. Performance is expected to surpass Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake, with review sampling to begin post-CES 2026. Linux benchmarks are pending hardware availability.
