Apple Maps in iOS 26 to Receive Two New Features: Natural Language Search and Thermal Management

A recent leak in the iOS 26 beta code has revealed two potential features coming to Apple Maps that have not yet been officially announced. The first major update involves a natural language search function. Users will soon be able to search for places using natural language queries, such as ‘Best coffee shops with free Wi-Fi.’ This upgrade, part of Apple’s ongoing effort to improve its app search features, could make the experience much more intuitive for users. The second new feature involves thermal management, which addresses issues related to overheating during turn-by-turn navigation. Apple Maps currently keeps the screen on during navigation, which can lead to the iPhone overheating, especially when the device is mounted on a dashboard and charging. The new thermal management feature will allow the device to cool down by turning off the display while still guiding users through navigation. While these features are not yet available in the current iOS 26 beta, there is hope they will be included in a future update, possibly iOS 26.1 or 26.2.
