HBO Max has officially launched in the United Kingdom, marking a significant expansion for the American streaming platform that brings together HBO’s acclaimed series, Warner Bros films and television, DC Studios productions, and new Max Originals. Among the highly anticipated additions are the return of *Friends* and the *Harry Potter* film series to a UK streaming service, with a new *Harry Potter* television adaptation expected to debut next year. Other flagship titles available include fresh seasons of *Euphoria* and *House Of The Dragon*.

The service introduces two subscription plans: a £4.99 per month option with adverts and an ad-free version starting from £9.99 per month. Additionally, TNT Sports subscribers can access their existing subscriptions via HBO Max, while customers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, or Sky’s Ultimate TV packages will find the app pre-included at no additional cost.

Ernest Doku, a broadband and TV specialist at Uswitch, described the launch as a “major shake-up” for UK TV viewers, noting that Sky stands out as the only major provider offering HBO Max bundled at no extra cost. He explained that Sky’s package – which includes HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+, and Hayu in their ad-supported versions – provides strong value when compared with purchasing each individually, though it requires a 24-month contract and includes advert interruptions. Doku also advised consumers to regularly review their streaming subscriptions to prevent paying for services they rarely use, noting that cancelling even a couple could save more than £100 annually.
