Mexico City Hosts Largest AI Class to Promote Technology Access and Social Inclusion

On October 19, 2025, Mexico City held the country’s largest-ever AI class at Parque Tezozómoc to kick off Digital Week 2025. The event, led by City Mayor Clara Brugada, attracted thousands of participants alongside industry leaders from OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Platzi. The Mega Class featured over 400 activities focused on education, innovation, and the social application of AI. Brugada emphasized the goal of making technology accessible to everyone—not just as consumers, but as creators—hoping to bridge digital gaps and promote active digital citizenship. The event underscored Mexico City’s position as a leader in digital innovation with a human-centered technological agenda aimed at fostering inclusion and social justice. Representatives from OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Platzi held presentations and demonstrations on the use of AI in education and work. The initiative is also part of the Mixtli Digital program, which aims to equip over 3,000 schools with digital tools like smart boards, 3D printers, virtual reality, and AI. Despite the excitement, workers from local Pilares Centers used the event to demand better labor conditions, highlighting the need for the digital transformation to protect workers’ rights. The Mega Class reflects the broader push to democratize AI in the region to ensure a diverse, equitable future in technology.
