Marks & Spencer Restores Click and Collect Service After Cyber Attack
Marks & Spencer (M&S) has resumed its click and collect service after a major cyber attack forced the company to halt several services. The attack, which occurred on April 25, led to the suspension of online orders for clothing and home goods, as well as in-store collections. While M&S resumed online orders on June 10, it has now announced that the click and collect service has also been reinstated. The cyber attack not only affected M&S’s online business but also disrupted its in-store operations, leading to empty shelves in the days following the breach. Some customer data was stolen, and shoppers have been warned to be cautious of phishing attempts through emails, calls, or texts posing as M&S. M&S has estimated that the incident will cost the company approximately £300 million in lost profits for the current year, though it expects insurance to cover some of the loss. The company’s CEO, Stuart Machin, assured investors that the worst of the impact would be over by August. Despite the setback, M&S is working to recover from the attack and restore full operations.
