Nairobi set to host Africa-wide youth technology innovation competition

Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, has been chosen to host a major continental competition meant to empower young Africans interested in technology and digital innovation. The event, which will bring together participants from across Africa, aims to sharpen youth skills in coding, robotics, and creative problem-solving through technology. Organised in collaboration with both public and private sector partners, the competition is expected to showcase local talent while linking innovators with potential investors and mentors. Organisers said this initiative is part of a wider plan to promote digital transformation across the continent, especially among young people who are seen as the driving force in Africa’s tech revolution. The competition will include training camps, hackathons, and exhibitions focusing on practical solutions to pressing African challenges, such as climate resilience, financial inclusion, and digital health. Nairobi was selected because of its growing reputation as a tech hub—home to many start-ups, innovation centres, and global companies interested in African technology. Participants are expected from more than 20 countries, creating a vibrant networking opportunity for youth to exchange ideas and collaborate.
