Google Nest Doorbell 2K Leaks with 2048×2048 Resolution and Wider Field of View

Google’s upcoming Nest Doorbell 2K, recently leaked through a retail box, will feature significant upgrades in terms of both resolution and field of view compared to its predecessor. The new doorbell will offer a 2K HDR resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixels, a substantial improvement over the previous 960 x 1280 resolution. In addition, the field of view (FOV) is expanding to 166° diagonally, up from the current 145°. These upgrades aim to deliver sharper video quality and a broader perspective, enhancing home security. The doorbell will still retain essential features like night vision, two-way audio, and weather resistance. It is also powered by standard doorbell wiring and works within the temperature range of −4°F to 104°F. Users will also need a subscription for certain AI features. The retail box also includes several installation accessories, such as a chime connector, base plate, and wedge, making it easier to set up. While the doorbell’s technical specs show clear improvements, there’s no word yet on similar upgrades for the Nest Cam 2K, though it’s expected to follow suit. Overall, this leak sheds light on Google’s effort to compete with other smart home security devices in terms of video quality and user experience.
