Netflix updates ‘Moments’ feature for easier sharing of personalized clips on mobile
Netflix has introduced a new update to its ‘Moments’ feature, allowing users to customize and share clips from their favorite scenes. Originally rolled out last year for mobile devices, this feature enables viewers to select a start and end point for specific scenes, which can then be saved in the ‘My Netflix’ tab for future viewing or sharing. The update, which coincides with the release of the second part of the popular show ‘Wednesday,’ is designed to take advantage of viral moments that have made certain scenes, like Wednesday’s viral dance, immensely popular. Elmar Nubbemeyer, Netflix’s VP of member product, emphasized that the update is about giving users a more personalized experience. This move is part of Netflix’s broader strategy to enhance its mobile platform, which includes a redesigned homepage and a TikTok-style vertical video feed. The feature is a response to the growing trend of viral moments in popular culture, especially on social media platforms. With over 252 million views, ‘Wednesday’ is Netflix’s most-watched show, and the update is seen as a way to keep engagement high. Netflix is also revamping its business strategies, such as introducing an ad-supported plan and enforcing stricter password-sharing rules, to maintain its position as a streaming leader.
