Oracle’s AI and Cloud Growth Faces Real-World Challenges, Analyst Warns

Oracle (ORCL) has recently seen a massive surge in stock value, driven by impressive fiscal Q1 results, a large backlog, and high-profile contracts, such as one with NATO. The company has grown its AI and cloud backlog by over four times compared to last year, and its future revenue projections are aggressive, suggesting it could become one of the top three hyperscalers in the cloud space, alongside Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet. However, analysts have raised concerns about Oracle’s ability to meet these ambitious growth targets, especially given the strain on data center capacity and supply chain issues with key components like GPUs. Furthermore, the shift to AI-heavy contracts, which typically have lower profit margins, could put pressure on Oracle’s bottom line. While the stock is trading at a premium valuation, with analysts predicting significant revenue growth, the company’s ability to scale its margins in line with its projected revenues remains uncertain. For now, the analyst recommends a ‘Hold’ on Oracle stock, cautioning that the market’s optimism may be overstated.
