Notion Introduces AI-Powered Meeting Transcription and Summarization Feature
Notion has announced the launch of a new AI-powered meeting transcription and notetaking feature, expanding its suite of productivity tools and positioning itself as a competitor to major platforms like Google and Microsoft. The new functionality allows users to transcribe meetings in real time and generate AI-powered summaries of key discussion points. Users can also take their own notes simultaneously, a feature similar to what Granola offers. Initially available on Mac desktop (version 4.7.0), Notion plans to extend support to its mobile app soon. To use the feature, users simply type ‘/meet’ on any Notion page, after which they are prompted to obtain consent from all meeting participants before starting the transcription. Once the meeting is over, Notion’s tool can generate a summary in various formats, such as Auto, Sales Call, Standup, or Team Meeting. The tool currently supports over a dozen languages, including English, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and more. Alongside this, Notion is targeting enterprise customers with new features like enterprise search, which enables cross-app searches, and a research mode that leverages AI to help users create shareable, reasoned documents. These updates follow recent launches such as Notion Calendar and an AI-powered Gmail client, underscoring Notion’s ambition to become more than just a notes and docs app.
