Rabbit R1 Receives Major Software Overhaul with RabbitOS 2 Update
The Rabbit R1, a previously under-the-radar AI device, is getting a significant software update with RabbitOS 2. Released on September 8, 2025, the update aims to address the shortcomings of the initial release. The company behind the Rabbit R1, Rabbit Inc., is rolling out the update for free to all users of the 2024 model. The new OS promises improved functionality and a sleeker user interface. A major change includes the introduction of a Quick Settings screen for volume, brightness, and camera controls, similar to features found in Android or iOS. The conversation flow has been enhanced with more detailed responses, and users can mute the microphone or expand the keyboard during interactions. Another notable update is the ‘Card Stack’ feature, which offers a simplified app drawer for users to easily access functions like Magic Gallery and Rabbit Intern. The translation feature now includes full conversation transcripts, and the ‘Rabbit Hole’ hub will sync user activity. Additionally, RabbitOS 2 includes new tools for creators, particularly the ‘R1 Creations’ tool that lets users develop AI-powered apps and games. Despite not being a commercial success so far, Rabbit Inc. hopes these changes will make the R1 a more attractive product to both existing and new customers. The RabbitOS 2 update is available for download today.
