Ricoh GR IV Camera Launches at $1,499, Significantly Increasing from 2019 Price

Ricoh is set to release its GR IV compact camera in mid-September for a price of $1,499.95, marking a significant increase from the $900 price tag of its predecessor in 2019. Alongside the GR IV, Ricoh will also launch the new GF-2 add-on flash priced at $119.95. The GR IV boasts a 26-megapixel APS-C sensor, a redesigned 28mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens, and improved autofocus and stabilization systems. It offers 53GB of built-in storage in addition to a microSD card slot. The camera continues the GR series tradition of compact, pocketable design, which has been favored by street photographers. While the GR IV is a more affordable option compared to cameras like the Fujifilm X100VI and Leica Q, it now enters a higher price range than previous models in the GR series. With an increase of $600 compared to the GR III, the GR IV is now priced at a level that may make it less attractive to the budget-conscious segment of its fanbase. The price hike follows industry-wide increases, partly due to US tariffs, but it puts the GR IV closer in price to other high-end compact cameras on the market.
