GovTech Joins Global Effort to Combat Scams by Sharing Real-Time Data

Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has partnered with a global initiative to fight scams by sharing real-time data. This collaboration, announced at the Global Anti-Scam Summit Asia 2025, aims to track and disrupt scams using the Global Signal Exchange. This platform allows over 100 organizations to exchange threat intelligence, tracking more than 400 million scam signals in real time. GovTech is the first government agency globally to participate in this initiative. The move strengthens Singapore’s approach to combating scams, with the government aiming to expand collaboration with tech companies, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. The initiative comes at a critical time as scam rates in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, have surged, with many scams occurring on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. A report by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) revealed that Southeast Asia lost over $23 billion to scams in the past year, with Singapore’s average loss per victim being the highest. Google.org has also pledged $5 million to expand online scam prevention resources in the region. Experts see Singapore as a model for other countries in fighting scams, citing the success of its Anti-Scam Centre.
