Inversion Unveils Arc Spacecraft for Rapid Global Cargo Delivery

Inversion, a spacecraft startup founded in 2021 by Justin Fiaschetti and Austin Briggs, has unveiled its new Arc spacecraft, designed to provide rapid cargo delivery capabilities for the U.S. military. The Arc vehicle can deliver up to 500 pounds (225 kg) of supplies anywhere in the world within an hour. Its mission concept involves pre-positioning Arcs in orbit for up to five years, ready to autonomously deliver cargo upon request. The company previously tested a smaller demonstration spacecraft named Ray, which successfully performed orbit maneuvers and remains operational in orbit, although it was not intended to land. Arc is a lifting body spacecraft that lands using parachutes, eliminating the need for a runway, and employs non-toxic propulsion, allowing soldiers to approach it immediately after landing. The U.S. military intends to use Arc for ‘mission-enabling cargo,’ including medical supplies, drones, or other urgent materials. The spacecraft measures four feet wide and eight feet tall, and Inversion aims to launch the first unit by the end of 2026. With a team of 60 employees, Inversion has already developed a full-scale primary structure for the first Arc, marking a significant step toward operationalizing rapid-response orbital delivery.
