Cartken Shifts Focus from Food Delivery Robots to Industrial Applications

Cartken, an autonomous robotics startup initially known for its four-wheeled robots that deliver food, has shifted its focus to industrial applications. This pivot came after the company received requests from manufacturers to use their robots in factories and labs. The first major industrial client, ZF Lifetec, started using Cartken’s delivery robots to move production samples. The success in this sector highlighted the demand for robots in industrial settings, prompting Cartken to release a new fleet of robots designed for heavier loads and industrial use. One of the new models, the Cartken Hauler, can carry up to 660 pounds. In addition to the Hauler, Cartken has introduced the Cartken Runner for indoor deliveries and is developing a robotic forklift. Cartken has also strengthened its partnership with Mitsubishi, with the latter purchasing 100 Hauler robots for use in Japanese industrial facilities. Despite this pivot, Cartken continues to operate in the food delivery sector but is not expanding further in that area. The company’s new focus is on addressing the material handling needs of industries, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. Cartken’s robots, originally designed for food delivery, are well-suited for industrial environments, capable of navigating between indoor and outdoor settings and adapting to various terrains and weather conditions.
