Google Pixel 10 Introduces Telephoto Camera and Android 16 with Extended Support

Google is preparing to launch the Pixel 10, aiming to make a strong impact in the competitive mid-range smartphone market. Unlike the Pixel 9, which had two main camera lenses, the Pixel 10 will feature a third lens — a telephoto — making it the first standard Pixel model to include this. However, Google will scale back the wide and ultrawide lenses to 48MP and 13MP, respectively, from the Pixel 9’s higher specifications. The company plans to rely heavily on AI image processing to maintain image quality.

A major change comes under the hood with the inclusion of the new Tensor G5 chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. This chip is designed not for top-tier performance, but for optimized day-to-day use, tightly integrated with Google’s Gemini AI and Android ecosystem. All Pixel 10 models will feature the same chipset, ensuring consistent performance.

The Pixel 10 will be among the first devices to ship with Android 16, which includes new AI tools debuted at Google I/O 2025. It will also offer a notable advantage with seven years of software support — one year more than most competitors. These updates aim to provide a better user experience, long-term value, and a clear signal of Google’s priorities in mobile innovation.
