Google prepares Gemini Space, an upgraded At a Glance for Pixel phones

Google is working on a new feature for its Pixel phones called “Gemini Space,” which may debut with the upcoming Pixel 10 series. The feature appears to be an evolution or rebranding of the current “At a Glance” widget, offering users expanded functionality such as finance recaps and live sports scores. This suggests a move toward a more comprehensive, contextual lock screen experience, similar to Samsung’s Now Brief and Now Bar features.

The development of Gemini Space was first uncovered through a configuration file named “Ambient Data” in the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 release, with references also found in the Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro firmware. Additionally, a potential interface named “Ambience Hub” has been hinted at, possibly designed to present this new ambient content.

The feature would further strengthen the integration of Google’s Gemini AI within the Pixel ecosystem, signaling Google’s intent to compete more directly with Samsung and Apple in delivering intelligent, real-time information on the lock screen. Though not much is known yet, clues point toward Gemini Space becoming an AI-driven daily information hub that enhances user experience through smarter, context-aware updates. Google may unveil this feature during the expected Pixel 10 launch event in August 2025.
