GIMP 3.0 Released with Improved UI, Color Management, and Non-Destructive Editing

The highly anticipated GIMP 3.0 release is now available, bringing significant improvements to the open-source image editor. Major enhancements include advanced color management, a stable public API for plugin and script compatibility, and support for new file formats like TIFF layers, 64-bit BMP, LAB PSD, and PSB. Non-destructive editing has been enhanced with new filter merging options and layer group support. Other notable updates include an improved alignment tool, a revamped search function, auto-expanding layer boundaries, and support for ‘layer sets’ replacing linked layers. GIMP 3.0 is available via Flatpak on Flathub, as an AppImage bundle, or as a source tarball for manual compilation.
