Google Introduces New Windows Desktop App with Enhanced Search Functionality

Google has unveiled a new experimental desktop app for Windows, aimed at improving search capabilities for users. The app, accessible through Google’s Search Labs, allows users to quickly search for files, installed apps, Google Drive content, and web results using the Alt + Space shortcut. This functionality is similar to Apple’s Spotlight search, enabling efficient navigation of the user’s digital environment. The app also integrates Google Lens, allowing for tasks like translating images or text and solving math problems. Additionally, users can explore deeper AI-driven responses in the new ‘AI Mode,’ offering a more advanced search experience for complex queries. The app provides options to filter results by categories such as images, videos, shopping, and more. Additionally, it supports dark mode for users who prefer it. Currently, the app is available in English, with users required to have a PC running Windows 10 or later. The app is in the experimental phase, so Google is actively seeking feedback from users to refine and improve its features before a broader release.
