Spotify’s free tier gets a significant upgrade with personalized playlists and better sharing features

Spotify is rolling out a significant update to its free-tier users this week, enhancing the listening experience with personalized features. One of the most notable changes is an improved version of the ‘Discover Weekly’ playlist, which now updates every Monday with more tailored recommendations based on the user’s listening habits. Additionally, the platform introduces the ‘Daylist,’ a playlist that adapts to specific times of the day. As users interact with the platform more, the system improves the playlist recommendations. Free-tier users will also gain access to more playlist customization options, such as creating their own playlist cover art. Furthermore, Spotify has streamlined its music search and play experience, making it easier to instantly play songs and add them to saved playlists. Sharing has also been improved; users can now share lyrics and tracks with friends on Instagram, WhatsApp, and more. With these updates, Spotify is making its free-tier more engaging, providing a richer and more personalized music experience for those who don’t pay for a premium subscription.
